They promise "trending" before they've watched your film
A real plan starts with the film: its genre, its audience, its release centres. An agency that promises trending hashtags before seeing a single scene is selling a package, not a plan.
They report views, never who watched
One lakh views from outside your audience sells zero tickets in your release centres. Ask for audience location, age and watch time, not just view counts.
Overnight spikes, zero comments
Bought views look big in a report and do nothing at the box office. If views jump overnight but comments and shares stay flat, ask where the views came from.
No written plan before the advance
"We'll handle it" is not a plan. Ask for phases, dates and deliverables in writing before you pay anything.
They disappear after Friday
The week after release decides your second weekend. A good film marketing agency stays through post-release and gives you a written report. No report means they were never measuring anything.
What to ask instead
- Can I see a written plan with phases and dates?
- What will you report, and how often?
- How will you reach audiences in my release centres?
- What happens after release day?
